GROUND WATER PROTECTION DIVISION
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING GROUND WATER FUNDING

WHEREAS, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) is able to influence the States as to funding for environmental programs and,

WHEREAS, the States continue to depend on federal funding as an important source of support for state efforts to address USEPA and state ground water protection priorities and,

WHEREAS, Section 106 of the Clean Water Act funding has supported a wide variety of development activities in ground water protection and should continue this support for lasting progress in protection of this valuable resource and,

WHEREAS, the GWPC supports and recognizes the need for program funding for all programs,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ground Water Protection Council encourages USEPA and Congress to increase the focus on ground water protection by appropriating a set aside of at least 15% of Section 106 of the Clean Water Act funding for continuing ground water protection programs in future Section 106 of the Clean Water Act grant guidances.
