GWPC Energy and the Environment Initiatives and Priorities for the Future:
´
E-commerce: Continue the development and implementation of the national e-commerce solutions for oil and gas regulatory agencies and industry´
Electronic permitting: Reduces rig downtime, decreases permit processing time, and increases environmental compliance´
E-reporting: Allows regulatory agencies and oil and gas operators to function more efficiently´
Web access to databases: Allows industry access to state data warehouses and encourages exploration by small operators´
Electronic transfer of data with BLM/MMS: Reduces or eliminates duplicate permitting and reporting (including NEPA documents and GIS maps)´
Coal Bed Methane Resource Management Module: Use the results of the GWPC Coal Bed Methane survey to develop a CBM management tracking system using the RBDMS model and web-enable the data´
Water Quality: Add water quality databases to RBDMS, to the Coal Bed Methane Resource Management Module, and to other fossil energy activities´
Produced water management and beneficial uses: Promote the use of produced water as a resource´
Produced water UIC use: Enhance state’s ability to manage produced water to include shallow injection as an option including states ability to apply partial UIC primacy´
Public education and outreach:o
Initiate a public education and outreach program to demonstrate the sound environmental practices of oil and gas production, coal bed methane, and UICo
Use data from the states RBDMS systems for verification
o
Initiate an education program, which combines water quality and quantity data with the production and use of fossil energyo
Use education and outreach to support domestic production of oil and gas
´
Continue working on the hydraulic fracturing issue´
Class II research, development, and education´
Install RBDMS in additional state oil and gas agencies as requested´
Incorporate GIS into all projects´
Continue developing a .NET front end for the existing RBDMS SQL back-end´
National oil and gas inspection field core program: This project enables agencies to incorporate inspection data into RBDMS thereby making it available to industry faster´
RBDMS maintenance: Future work on the RBDMS Core will be limited to routine maintenance and periodic Access and SQL upgrades
