Source Water Protection (SWP)

SWP Home Assessments Data Mgt. Implementation Measures

"Source water is untreated water from streams, rivers, lakes or underground aquifers that is used to provide public drinking water, as well to supply private wells used for human consumption."

In June 2003 the USEPA held a conference on the protection of Source Water.  To view a summary of that conference click HERE.  The GWPC supports the efforts of USEPA and other groups to protect drinking water at its source.  By protecting these waters from contamination we help insure a supply of water that is fit for human consumption without the need for treatment.

At the GWPC 2005 Annual Forum in Portland, Oregon a 1 day workshop was held for State Source Water Practitioners.  To read the notes from that workshop, Click HERE
