Conference Seminar & Field Trip Offerings

In addition to regular conference sessions, the GWPC is also offering the following seminar and field trip opportunities for the 2020 UIC Conference in San Antonio. Please pre-register for these events via the conference registration.

Injection Well Seminar

Tuesday, February 18 | 1:30 - 5:00 PM

Presented by Ken Cooper, PE, Petrotek Engineering Corporation & the Ground Water Research & Education Foundation

After a brief introduction to injection wells and the UIC program, reservoir and geologic concepts are introduced and used to explain the concepts of pressure driven flow through a well and into rock, pressure and injectate distribution, well capacity, fluid containment, and cone-of-influence. How pressure rise and rock properties relate to properly siting an injector are described.  UIC regulatory requirements, permits, and no-migration petition standards related to the prediction of pressure rise are then discussed and related back to the concepts introduced earlier in the presentation, followed by a brief introduction to reservoir property characterization and testing.  The intent of the seminar is to put the technical terms, methods, and uses of predicting reservoir pressure-rise into plain english.

Field Trip: San Antonio Water Systems H2Oaks Facility
