Executive Director

Dan Yates is the Executive Director for the Ground Water Protection Council and has been with the GWPC for 20 years. The GWPC is the national association for state groundwater, source water, underground injection control, and oil and gas regulatory agencies. The GWPC creates and fosters a forum for state agencies from across the country to share successes and challenges and together continually improve the protection of groundwater resources at the state level.

Dan holds a Bachelor of Music from Oklahoma City University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma. In his role at GWPC Dan staffs several state and federal committees, leads policy development efforts with the states, interfaces with federal agencies and other stakeholders, and helps keep groundwater protection at the forefront of all environmental protection efforts and policies.

Dan has served on several state and national boards and committees including co-chairing the national Source Water Collaborative, serving on the Oklahoma state Water Research Advisory Board, Past-President of the Oklahoma Society of Association Executives, and Past President of Sustainable OKC.

Dan lives in Oklahoma City with his wife, daughter, 2 goats, 3 lambs, 4 dogs, and 2 cats. In his spare time he…, no, he doesn’t have any spare time.
