Established in September 2019, the Aquifer Storage and Recovery - Managed Aquifer Recharge (ASR-MAR) Workgroup was formed to examine, discuss, and make recommendations to the GWPC Board of Directors regarding Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) and Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) issues or topics.
The GWPC Class VI Work Group was created with the goal to assist states, where requested, with the Class VI Primacy process, evaluate the needs of primacy states in implementing a Class VI program, prepare a method of evaluating Class VI programs and assist states with training needs for Class VI program implementation.
Beginning in 2014, 13 states partnered through a multi-state initiative called the Exchange. The exchange is a collaboration of the GWPC and the Interstate Oil & Gas Compact Commission (IOGCC). The states worked to share and summarize current knowledge related to earthquakes potentially caused by human activity, otherwise referred to as induced seismicity.
The Ground Water Protection Council (GWPC) developed a multi-stakeholder working group to identify opportunities and challenges associated with utilizing produced water as a resource and to provide suggestions that policy makers, researchers, regulators and others can use to address them.
